Sharde' O'Rourke, LMFT, LPC, LSATP, SAP, PAI, CCTP, AHAD-CCSP, is a licensed marriage and family therapist and the developer of Reclamation Theory, a liberation-focused clinical model built for practitioners working with Black clients whose burdens have too often been misread as brokenness. Her clinical and scholarly work restores a lineage (Morrison, Fanon, Du Bois, DeGruy, Cross, and the theorists before them) that the field has long drawn from without crediting. She is the author of Unburdened, the founder of The Mahogany Projek, and the creator of the Rooted Leader Assessment. She also practices as The Barefoot Therapist and speaks widely on culturally-grounded, liberation-focused clinical work.
The assessments
Two instruments carry Reclamation Theory into practice. Both are free to take, take about ten minutes, and return a written profile by email.
The Rooted Leader Assessment
A Reclamation Theory-based self-assessment for leaders, measuring how identity, capacity, and voice are holding under pressure. Participants receive a movement profile (Growing, Rooted, or Thriving) with language for what they are carrying and where their leadership is already rooted.
Who it is for: Leaders, training cohorts, and organizations working through the Reclamation Theory framework.
Take it at /assessment →The Respect Ecology Inventory
A 48-item inventory mapping respect across the domains of authenticity, accuracy, dignity, and boundaries, and across three axes: the respect a person gives, the respect they experience from others, and the respect they actually feel. The gaps between those axes are the finding.
Who it is for: Teams, couples, and clinical or leadership groups examining relational culture.
